2017: THE YEAR iN CiNEMA

Since 2004, right around Oscar time Funderburg and Cribbs have been transmitting to the world their thoughts on the preceding year in film. But we here at the Pink Smoke didn't see many new films in 2017. We missed The Phantom Thread, Lady Bird and Amityville: Awakening, so we didn't feel like our recent experiences in the theater warranted our usual massive and comprehensive look back at the year in le cinema. Who are we to judge and to commentate, naïfs that we are?

But does inexperience entirely invalidate passion? We did see some movies we admired, some movies that we'd like to commemorate in an abbreviated version of our usual Annual Movie Commemoration Thing. So here's a list of movies, just like you'd hoped you'd read when you clicked on a link claiming to lead to a list of movies.
