TOBE HOOPER:
TEXAS BEATNiK.

EPISODE 247: GEEKiNG OUT ABOUT TOBE HOOPER.

The Pink Smoke’s Christopher Funderburg and John Cribbs recently appeared on the Wrong Reel podcast to discuss the life and work of the perpetually misunderstood Tobe Hooper, director of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, Eaten Alive, Lifeforce and Salem's Lot. This episode is a good one: a shared love of Hooper is one of the key elements binding Funderburg & Cribbs (and therefore this website) together. Allow yourself to be swayed by their impassioned defense of I'm Dangerous Tonight, the finest film ever made about a haunted cocktail dress woven from an ancient Aztec ceremonial robe.

They're joined by Pinnland Empire's Marcus Pinn and comedian Kevin Maher, host of the popular video variety show Kevin Geeks Out (a monthly live event hosted by two Brooklyn movie theaters, the Nitehawk Cinema and the Alamo Drafthouse.) Tobe Hooper was recently the subject of a KGO presentation - you can watch the trailer here.

Strap in. We're talkin' the Tober, so it's gonna get weird. The free-wheeling discussion is, as always, wrangled by Wrong Reel host James Hancock.
